Another cover of something. Again, the voice was dying, but it’s a song I really like. Originally by Fitz and the Tantrums.
Alan Fritzinger would sometimes take a long hike or long bike ride and wonder what it would be like if he didn’t have to turn around right away, if he could just head into the sunset and do who knows what and end up who knows where.
This is a family member of mine who did something pretty freaking awesome. Perhaps we all should set some rad goals and learn some pretty nifty things.
The sound for this film, “An Original DUCKumentary,” nominated this year for an award (in addition to three others) in Outstanding Music and Sound for the 34th News and Documentary Emmy Awards, was designed by Carmen Borgia, Matt Gundy, and, someone whom I consider a personal friend and mentor despite distance and time, Michael Chobot. Original music was composed by Lenny Williams and Chris Biondo. The winning team of designers will be announced October 1st, 2013, and I’ll be listening.
As I watch and listen to this, I’m simply listening to the design and how precise and colorful it really is, and I’m inspired to continue learning and designing. Quite sadly, Chobot is no longer with us, but he will continue to incite me forever to keep listening and settle only for what sounds best. Out of interest, curiosity, and respect for a talented sound mixer (and the man who showed me the best part of filmmaking), I’m posting this link, just in case you may have that same interest and curiosity.
It’s been over a year and I finally recorded a demo. I’m not entirely happy with it, but that’s why it’s called a demo.
In the city is where I lost my mind; in the woods, saw what I lacked. In that house is where I lost my place; uncertain I’ll be going back. And I’m sorry, my friend, inspiration. Perfect silence of the secrets of what started with emerald faucets over saccharine bittersweetness. In a haze of faulty sentimentality, the cacophony of inebriated house guests traveling miles into my ears steers me wrong. To travel back completely, to downpour with the rain, to find distractions for distractions of inexcusable strain. Reminded to forget, incapable, I pass. My friend, you did step in to eradicate the past. To find the time, to find the words, to send them miles and then be heard; in the city is where I lost my mind. In the woods, realized what I lacked. In that house is where I lost my place, in my own is where I’ve claimed it back.
PLEASE REBOLG THIS! We need this film to happen. Please, watch and spread the word. My daughter and her father’s family are from this reservation. People need to know what really happens on native land.
Super fucking signal boost, c’mon.
SIGNAL BOOST. wow this is amazing.
